I've always been on the side of keeping them separate, however Wordpress as a CMS is making more sense all the time. The main seller for me is the SEO capability. Thanks also for mentioning there is a time and resource commitment to having a blog or blogsite. People tend to think blogging is "free." It's not, but you get so much for what you do pay.
